Worry?

October 5, 2013

Dear Christian Friends,

We read in Isaiah how he was worried about the people who were ignoring God.  Their hearts had become hardened (see Isaiah, Chapters 1-39).  Isaiah the prophet’s prayer to God was “Oh, that you would tear open the heavens and come down, so that the mountains would quake at your presence… to make your name known…so that the nations might tremble at your presence.” (Isaiah 64: 1-2) Isaiah’s prayer was precise but God answered it in His way with hope when he says, “As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you… It shall be known that the hand of the Lord is with his servants…” (Isaiah 66:13-14)

When the worries and cares of this world seem unbearable and we see a world of people who are ignoring God, we may, like Isaiah, pray that God would “tear open the heavens and come down.” But God offers us hope while we wait and He comforts us “as a mother comforts her child.”   We have the God of comfort and encouragement with us always, waiting to show us His mercy and love but we need to trust Him, depend on Him and keep our thoughts and eyes on Him.  We have to know and realize that God is our greatest source of comfort.

All for Jesus,

Patty
